20 Inspiring Quotes for Your Teenager - 'cause sometimes they have bad days, too!

There is so much stress and pressure in our culture today.

And our teens are not immune from it, either.

In addition to seasonal or weather-related issues, (you know, the "post-Christmas blues" or the "end of summer slump") they may also be dealing with other concerns:

  • peer pressure…
  • difficult coursework…
  • balancing work and studies…
  • quirky relationships…
  • full-out depression

Actually, research has shown that depression affects about 20% of teens prior to reaching adulthood, and teen depression is a risk factor for developing a number of other mental health symptoms and disorders. Source

Now I'm not suggesting that a few words of encouragement are going to fix everything, but it certainly doesn't hurt to let our kiddos know we're on their side, and that "this, too, shall pass."

20 Inspiring Quotes for Your Teenager - 'cause sometimes they have bad days, too!

If you have a high-school Junior or a Senior, as I do, they are most likely wrestling with those longer-term “what-do-I-want-to-do-with-my-life?” type of questions. It's not an easy time for them, but you can help them out by modeling persistence, optimism, and a can-do spirit. You can also encourage them by sharing stories of people who have overcome serious life challenges, or perhaps by sharing your own experiences of the same...

Inspiring quotes for teens that will encourage, inspire and uplift them!

Much as I created this encouraging playlist for those who are inspired by music, I recognize that other people are more encouraged by words and literature (yes, even some teens!). So share some of these quotes with them – shoot them a text, post it on their Facebook wall, or heck, even print one or two out and tape it to their door or bathroom mirror!

  1. Really good collection. “Everything is okay in the end. If it’s not okay, then it’s not the end.” This one by Ed Sheeran is really amazing. I am also an Ed Sheeran quote lover. You really have some great ones – keep up the good work.

  2. Pat, I love these! Not only for my teenager, but for myself (being rather a quote-hound). I’m particularly fond of that Cynthia Patterson bit. 😉 I’m also very fond of you. xoxo

    1. Wow, yes it was! (Guess that shows I’d better check my sources better. Thought I could trust a teen with anything related to current music – lol) Thanks for the heads up…off to fix my graphic!
