Additionally, I work with other companies that I have known, use, and trust in an affiliate relationship and recommend them when I feel they can benefit and bless my readers. I recognize that your privacy is important. This document outlines the types of personal information we receive and collect when you use Breakthrough Homeschooling, as well as some of the steps I take to safeguard information. I hope this will help you make an informed decision about sharing personal information here.
Breakthrough Homeschooling strives to maintain the highest standards of decency, fairness, and integrity in all our operations. Likewise, I am dedicated to protecting our customers’, consumers’ and online visitors’ privacy on this website.
* What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Personally Identifiable Information
Breakthrough Homeschooling collects personally identifiable information from the visitors to this website only on a voluntary basis. Personal information collected on a voluntary basis may include name, postal address, email address, company name and telephone number. This information is collected only if you request information from me, participate in a contest or sweepstakes, sign up to join our email list, or request some other service or information. The information collected is internally reviewed, used to improve the content of this website only, notify visitors of updates, and respond to visitor inquiries. Once information is reviewed, it is discarded or stored in digital files. If I make material changes in the collection of personally identifiable information I will inform you by placing a notice on this site.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. Visitor comments may also be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Cookies and Web Beacons
If you do leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
A web beacon is a transparent image file used to monitor your journey around a single website or collection of sites. They are also referred to as web bugs and are commonly used by sites that hire third-party services to monitor traffic. They may be used in association with cookies to understand how visitors interact with the pages and content on the pages of a website.
Browsers can be set to accept or reject cookies or notify you when a cookie is being sent. Privacy software can be used to override web beacons. Taking either of these actions shouldn’t cause a problem with this site, should you so choose.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
* How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Your rights regarding your data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
As noted above, visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Personal information received from any visitor will be used only for internal purposes and will not be sold or provided to third parties.
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act
This website is directed to adults; it is not directed to children under the age of 13. I operate this site in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, and will not knowingly collect or use personal information from anyone under 13 years of age.
In some cases, I may collect information about you that is not personally identifiable. This information, which does not identify individual users, is used to analyze trends, administer the site, track users’ movements around the site, and gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. The information collected is used solely for internal review and not shared with other organizations for commercial purposes.
Release of Information
If Breakthrough Homeschooling is sold, the information obtained from you through voluntary participation in this site may transfer to the new owner as a part of the sale in order that the service being provided to you may continue. In that event, you will receive notice through our website of that change in control and practices, and I will make reasonable efforts to ensure that the purchaser honors any opt-out requests you might make.
